Baby Goats: Johnny and June

A few friends and I were discussing the ‘Blood Moon’ on July 27th and what impact if any a full moon has on such things as bringing on labor. As it happened, right about the time the Blood Moon came out our goat Violet delivered these two beautiful babies! Maybe there is something to all that after all. A doeling and a buckling, we have named Johnny and June. These are Violet’s first kids and she is doing very well. Violet is a bit shy and standoffish, but she has had no problem taking charge of her little ones. She got off to a bit of a rocky start as I didn’t get her separated into her own pen ahead of time and the other goats were giving her a hard time as the poor dear was in labor. Once we got her separated, she quickly delivered both babies. These little ones are so cute! I seriously cannot stay away. Our oldest daughter keeps slipping away to the barn to sit and watch them. She told me she wished she had a little bed out in the barn and she could just sleep out with them.
